Clinicians Accepting New Clients

Rose Sylvester, PLPC
(they/she)

Tele-Therapy or In Person Outdoor Sessions

I don’t believe in hiding chapters of your story—therapy with me is about bringing every part of you to the page: the tender, the messy, the kinky, the vulnerable, and the resilient. I work with folks navigating relationships, intimacy, trauma, sexuality, addictive patterns, and identity. If you’re untangling old habits, rewriting your relationship with substances, or just tired of playing small in your own story, you’ve come to the right place. I also offer outdoor therapy sessions in parks throughout the city, where you can choose to sit and talk, walk and talk, or—if you're an experienced cyclist—even bike and talk. Sometimes movement and being outdoors can make it easier to process, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. My style is collaborative, body-centered, and a little bold—because growth doesn’t happen when we tiptoe. You’re the main character; I’m here to help you see the plot twists, embrace the side quests, and claim your next chapter with clarity, power, and lots of pleasure.

Christine Anderson, PLPC
(she/they)

601 N Carrollton Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119 and Tele-Therapy

With all the pressures of the world it is easy to get lost in the expectations of others and lose touch with oneself. I hope to offer an empathetic and non-judgmental place where you feel safe to process past trauma and the impact of oppressive systems and begin to reconnect with yourself. I utilize a trauma informed approach that allows you to take things at your own pace. I believe you are the expert on your experience and I hope to collaborate with you to establish and work towards meaningful goals.

My work is rooted in existential theory and utilizes CBT, DBT, ACT, parts work, mindfulness practices, motivational interviewing, Socratic questioning, and expressive arts. I am a proud member of the queer community and believe that trans rights are human rights. I believe that we must be anti-racist and work hard to dismantle the biases we hold. I strive to create a safe space for people of all identities.

I am a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) with a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University and a Bachelor of Accountancy from Loyola University New Orleans.

Joey Fening, PLPC
(he/him)

2115 Carondelet St, New Orleans, LA 70130 or Tele-Therapy

As a bartender for almost a decade, I understand the harsh realities of working in the service industry. Between the late nights, the physical and emotional stress, and the omnipresence of drugs and alcohol, the service industry can take a major toll on one’s mental health. As a therapist, I look forward to applying my experiences with clients who work in the industry.

I apply a person-centered approach to my work, meaning you get to come as you are without worry of judgment, and we’ll work together to work through what’s troubling you. You are the expert of your own life, after all. As someone who has lived different life chapters in various places and work settings, I hope to utilize my life experiences to understand yours. I’ve worked the clients from diverse backgrounds to work though substance use, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship troubles.

Michelle Todd, PhD, MS, Counseling Intern
(she/they)

601 N Carrollton Ave, New Orleans, LA, 770119 or Tele-therapy
Internship end date: May 2027

My goal as a therapist is to create a supportive space where you can safely explore your experiences, deepen self-understanding, and move towards meaningful life changes. I recognize that therapy is deeply personal and offer a non-judgmental, authentic perspective through which we can work together toward your goals.

Integrating cognitive behavioral, somatic, and relational-cultural therapy, I help clients identify patterns that may be contributing to challenges and emotional distress, while recognizing the ways in which relationships, systems, and lived experiences impact wellbeing. I believe in a holistic approach to health in which healing involves both the mind and body. I integrate practical coping tools and tailored problem-solving solutions to you with body-based awareness to support emotional regulation, resilience, and healing.

I work alongside adolescents and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, challenges with self-esteem and identity, trauma, PTSD, grief, chronic illness, and major life changes. Additionally, I integrate my PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology with my counseling approach to offer counseling on career changes, leadership development, and other job-related problems. I am also a member of the queer community and am LGBQTIA+ affirming, anti-racist, sex positive, kink friendly, affirming of ethical non-monogamy, and body positive.

Carla Dominguez, Clinical Intern
(she/her)

601 N Carrollton Ave, New Orleans, LA, 770119 or Tele-therapy
Internship end date: April 30th, 2027

My therapeutic goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and genuinely seen for who you are. I believe therapy works best when it is built on trust, authenticity, and collaboration, and I strive to meet each client with compassion and curiosity rather than judgment.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in a person-centered perspective, meaning I believe you are the expert of your own life and experiences. Together, we can explore the challenges you are facing at your own pace while building on your strengths, values, and resilience. I aim to provide a warm and affirming environment where clients feel empowered to grow, heal, and navigate life with greater confidence.

As a Mexican American, I am especially passionate about supporting the Latino community and other underserved populations. I understand that culture, identity, family dynamics, and systemic experiences can deeply shape mental health, and I value creating culturally responsive and inclusive care. Bailey Bussart, PLPC
(she/her)

Hi, I'm Bailey (she/her), a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC). I work with adults navigating life's challenges while recognizing that our relationships, identities, communities, and the broader systems we live within all shape our experiences. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to move toward a life that feels more connected and authentic.

My approach to therapy is warm, engaged, and relational. I believe healing happens in the context of safe, authentic relationships, and I meet each client with curiosity, compassion, and respect. My work is rooted in Relational-Cultural Therapy and integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS) and nervous system-based approaches. I tailor therapy to each client's unique needs and approach my work through a multicultural, trauma-informed lens.

Evan Maier, Counseling Intern
(he/him)

601 N Carrollton Ave, New Orleans, LA, 770119 or Tele-therapy
Internship end date: May 27th

I believe therapy is most meaningful when it feels collaborative, affirming, and deeply human. My approach is holistic and systems-oriented, recognizing how our relationships, environments, identities, and lived experiences shape the ways we move through the world. I’ve lived in many places including Japan as I grew up a military kid, and have gained a beautiful, diverse perspective on the world. These transitional life periods have helped me learn what it means to have to uproot yourself and adapt to the person you want to be.

I am committed to creating an inclusive and affirming space for people of all identities and backgrounds, including non-monogamous/polyamorous individuals, couples, and families. I’m especially interested in relationships, interpersonal dynamics, and the inner systems that influence how we relate to ourselves and others. Above all, I aim to meet clients with warmth, authenticity, and compassion as they navigate life's difficult challenges and moments of profound growth, and would be honored to work with you.

Jack Curtis, MS, PLPC
(he/him)

7201 Dominican Street, New Orleans, LA 70118 or Tele-Therapy

As humans, we are hardwired for connection. Reaching out when we are unsure who will meet us, or how they will treat us, can be hard to do. Especially when we are carrying the weight of past hurts. That's why I strive to support my clients with compassion and curiosity at every step of their unique and intuitive process toward becoming their most authentic selves. I believe that experience is our best teacher, and that you are the foremost expert about your own. As I see it, I may have some good questions, but I will never have your answers. I feel truly privileged to collaboratively and creatively explore new ways of being and being together with my clients. Together, we can gently unfold the complexities of our humanity, teasing out these questions and whatever answers may follow. And where others may judge, instead we can celebrate what it means to be you. Additionally, my practice is trauma-informed, and I am fully trained in EMDR, which can help to reduce distress around long held traumatic memories.

As a resident of New Orleans for the past 14 years, I am deeply proud to serve the many varied and vibrant communities that also call this place home. When I'm not working as a counselor, I like to spend my time writing and recording music, gardening, cooking, and hanging out with my three cats. If there's anything else you would like to know, you're more than welcome to ask.

Many of the individuals she works with are thoughtful, reflective, or creative people who want to better understand themselves and live with greater intention.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples, who suffer from depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, grief, abuse (emotional, sexual, substance, physical), and many other mental health concerns. I have experience working with individuals and couples who fall on different ends of the mental health spectrum for counseling.

Elizabeth Black, LCSW-BACS, LICSW

Tele-Therapy Only

I could list my degrees and licenses here, but let’s be honest: what most people really want to know is what it’s like to sit in a room with me. My approach to therapy is shaped less by textbooks and more by lived experience. You’ve heard the phrase “walk a mile in someone else’s shoes”? I’ve logged quite a few miles, in quite a few different pairs.

I work from a judgment-free, harm reduction perspective and have experience supporting folks in alternative relationships and kink communities, people navigating substance use, veterans and first responders, and those with deep ties to the service and sex worker industries. I’m open to working with anyone who’s motivated to change—whether you’re brand new to therapy or have been doing this work for years.

Therapy isn’t black and white, and there’s no single “right” way to heal. My role is to show up, meet you where you are, and collaborate with you to find an approach that actually fits your life—not someone else’s idea of what it should look like.

Mark D. Haase, LPC, LMFT

Tele-Therapy Only

Life is difficult. Buddha said as much and anyone who has lived for a chunk of time knows as much. And for various reasons--pride, fear and procrastination among them--we as humans don't always readily reach out for help. There are many ways to reach out. Some do it through talking to family members or clergy. Some through friends or support groups. And sometimes the problems we are dealing with go away by themselves. But not usually. Sometimes our problems are signs that more serious issues need tending. For example, a person struggling with depression may find he or she is in that state because of choices made that have limited their range of options and feelings. And the depression is, in part, a sign that things radically need to change. I've worked with children, adolescents, couples and families. (You knew the sales pitch was coming.) I've worked in various roles in social services and counseling for over 20 years and am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT).

Rickia Washington, MA, PLPC

Tele-Therapy Only

Hello! My name is Rickia Washington. I am a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC). I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nicholls State University. I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults who suffer with Anxiety, Depression, Substance Abuse, Shame, Guilt, Grief, Self-Esteem, and many others. I see counseling as a process in which you, the client, and I, the PLPC having come to understand and trust one another, work as a team to explore and define present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life and work in a systematic fashion toward realizing those goals.  I approach counseling from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, meaning patterns of thoughts and actions are explored in order to better understand your problems and to develop solutions.

Thrad Weibley, MT-BC

In-Person only; 2529 Jena Street, Suite 107, New Orleans, LA 70115

Through music therapy, we can work together to discover, develop, and define ways in which the use of music can directly facilitate achieving your personal goals. With every client, my immediate goal is to meet that person where they are. It is my ethical obligation and privilege to acknowledge, explore and learn about each person’s culture and context in order to authentically meet them where they are. Every human being is dynamic and evolving, so person-specific goals will emerge through the relationships that form through the use of music. Overall goals will focus on facilitating what is needed to achieve your desired goals.

The foundation of my practice is rooted in connection, helping you understand your nervous system with compassion, respect, and care. I meet you where you are, and work alongside you to understand your lived experiences. I come from a somatic and trauma informed lens, utilizing Somatic Experiencing and person centered frameworks like Gestalt, Attachment theory, and other relational ways of being.

Many people feel that talk therapy has kept them stuck and unfulfilled. By looking at the nervous system, it gives us deeper answers as to how your unique trauma has shaped your life and any current symptoms you may be experiencing as a result, like chronic pain, digestive issues, sleep problems, and others. I create a space that lets those patterns come to the surface and be held in a safe, supportive space for deep and long lasting healing.

I believe that the working relationship between client and counselor is the most important component in therapy. While self-exploration is exciting and rewarding, therapy can be difficult and emotionally taxing. Because of this, my main goal is to assure that my clients feel heard and supported throughout the healing process. I do this by meeting my clients where they are, communicating openly, asking for feedback, and providing encouragement.

I use an integrative approach, mainly pulling from Feminist, Existential, and Adlerian theories. For me, this means considering how the interplay of societal structures and individual views impacts mental health. I prioritize cultural competency and enjoy working with people who come from different backgrounds. While I have experience working with a variety of concerns, my main areas of interest include grief, addiction, the LGBT+ population, anxiety, and chronic illness. I am also trained in Brainspotting, a somatic therapy that helps with processing trauma.

I believe art is a language everyone once spoke fluently- an innate ability we all possess. As children, we use visual imagery as a way to understand and navigate our surroundings and this serves as our personal connection to the world. My long relationship to visual art and intimacy with various media informs the way I guide you toward your own personal uncovering and self-exploration. Art is the central force of our work together and we continue to remain open and curious about what story it may reveal.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, off balance, or stuck in a cycle you can't seem to break, counseling can provide the framework for a radical shift. As a longtime former service industry worker, I deeply relate to the challenges of such a demanding work environment and the lifestyle impacts the industry can have. Authenticity and real understanding are key ingredients in the therapeutic relationship, and you can come to our sessions feeling empowered to share your real story without having to gloss over or sanitize it. Together, we can take a holistic look at your life to identify where you may be holding onto limiting or unhelpful beliefs and behavior patterns. We will define your core values and explore new ways to respond to life's challenges that are more aligned with your true goals.

Hi, I’m Eric. I believe the foundation of helpful therapy is a trusting and supportive relationship. I provide a safe and compassionate space where clients are encouraged to gain self-awareness, while honoring the strengths and values each person brings with them. A process of exploration into your own experience - of thought, emotion, sensation, and behavior - can empower a greater ability to make conscious, creative choices toward personally meaningful change for a more fulfilling life. Gradually, this process can transform the way you relate to yourself, others, and the world.

Allow me to guide you on your road of progress not perfection! I help individuals, groups, couples, and families discover that they hold the necessary keys to unlock every circumstance they encounter. It is my privilege and gift to empower people as they navigate their process of self-discovery. I have experience with, but not limited to the following issues: substance abuse/recovery, depression, anxiety, impulsive behaviors and family relationships. I meld, understanding the client’s point of view, genuinely and without judgement while helping them deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking issues down into smaller pieces. Helping clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems while discovering the resources and strengths they already have is key. Compassion, collaboration and consistency are three tenets which guide my approach to counseling. I am dedicated to helping you unlock the door to your purpose-driven life while meeting you right where you are.

Therapy is based on mutual respect and honesty. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I will support your courage in recognizing a need for change in your life. We all experience times of great challenge, heartache, grief, self doubt, anger, uncertainty and even self hatred. My purpose as a therapist is to encourage self acceptance and provide a caring and stable voice of reason. I will ask you questions that inspire you to more clearly think for yourself and understand how you relate to others. You are the expert on you, and I am an expert in helping you see yourself as you truly are,... complicated, beautiful and resilient just like this city!

I promise to also challenge your harmful and toxic thoughts without judgment and instead nurture genuine self reflection so that you can better own your truth. Together, as partners in this journey, we will have meaningful discussions about who you are, where you come from and who you want to become. A Mental Health diagnosis does not define you!

Please click on the video links on each page to hear a brief explanation of how we will work together to address that area of Mental Health.
I look forward to meeting you.

Hi there! I'm Marlaena Miller--a personal coach, relationship coach, and licensed therapist. I own and operate a private practice, Next-Level-Life, in the Lake Charles, LA area. My practice is fully online, which I have found to be as effective and more accessible than traditional face-to-face counseling.

I consider the work I do with my clients to be my greatest privilege (besides being a mom), and the central theme woven throughout my work is this: I am a therapist now; I was a client first; I am a human ALWAYS. My style is casual over clinical, as evidenced by the way I prioritize the relationship (i.e. authentic human encounter) and meet clients where they are, no matter their situation and experiences. My primary job is to hold a safe, non-judgmental space for you to share, reflect, process, learn, problem-solve, heal, and grow--with me being a collaborator in the therapeutic process. My therapeutic approach is integrative, humanistic, individualized, and tailored to each client's needs.

According to Charles Swindoll, “Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.” This quotation makes it seem like "responding" to life is easy, doesn't it? But the truth is, life is messy, and navigating its ups and downs can be really hard. Having someone to act as a sounding board, help us stay grounded, and support us in shifting our perspective can be invaluable. Especially amidst a national pandemic that has flipped most people's realities upside down, you may have found yourself facing unexpected hurdles and have decided that enough is enough and you're ready to take the next step.

I take a curiosity-based approach to figuring out the root of what is causing discomfort or distress and utilize CBT and ACT from a postmodern framework. I am not interested in telling people what they should or should not do, I consider my role as a partner who walks hand in hand with you as we explore what works for you, as an individual, and what doesn’t. If you are reaching out due to difficulty controlling substance use, please know that I am not here to push any strict sobriety requirements.
